This was a question a close friend of mine asked me recently. It was in response to me talking about bitcoin, and I didn't really get a chance to elaborate as the conversation changed, but it's worth mentioning.

My use of cryptocurrency does not mean I hate banks. Banks and the federal reserve have worked somewhat well for the time I have been alive. However, I also believe how we use money can and needs to be improved.

I could ride my bicycle to get somewhere, and I do ride my bicycle often. However, automobiles are a huge improvement compared to bicycles. It's something entirely different. Just because I mainly use a car does not mean I hate bicycles.

Bitcoin is the automobile in this metaphor.
