Financial Analysis

For those unaware, I am a student being supported by my parents, with a (relatively decent for the area) $11/hr part-time job. The majority of my income has gone to savings and investments for when I am not being supported.

I've saved a good nest egg I think. Without including my bitcoin or crypto gains (I'm not cashing out right now, don't want to deal with the taxes so it's mainly a savings/fallback) my savings makes up about 70% of my net worth, with large assets being my IT stuff (desktop, servers, peripherals), and my car barely contributing.

My current car is a $700 van with about 170k miles. Replaced the battery. Grandparents offered to replace tires, but we haven't yet. I'm not sure I'm going to take them up on their offer since they aren't exactly living lavishly, and there may be medical bills. Only noticeable issue with the car presently is the muffler, it's super loud.

My decision I'm currently pondering is how much I should save up for car repairs. Ideally, I would like to have my current savings be unaffected once my car inevitably needs repairs. I'm just not even sure what that number would look like. I'm going to have it serviced/assessed soon. In the meantime, I've been looking at a nice subwoofer and amp setup.

A good sound system in my car has been something I've wanted for quite some time (2 years maybe), and I'm just now reaching a financial point where I have a sturdy enough savings to be comfortable considering a ~$150 addition.

I have also been thinking about adding more hours over the summer, which could help offset the purchase.

Overall, I'm just unsure of how much I should have saved for potential car repairs, and if I am safe to invest in a good sound system. I don't necessarily believe any readers will have the answer.. I just wanted to write this all out to help me think through it. Thanks for reading.
