Cryptocurrency in aid of multi-planetary expansion

Imagine a scenario where humanity has expanded across the many solar systems, while retaining the same hyper-communication we've achieved today. Now imagine that same species trying to progress further into space travel, but being held back by a primitive currency system - a currency system that relies on physical possession.

Markets would suffer from huge delay times, unless facilitated by extremely centralized banks that can be susceptible to fraud or theft. However, with cryptocurrency, we can change our currency from physical possession, to intellectual possession. This means currency is no longer limited by the speed at which we can physically move (silly, right?) but by how fast we can communicate.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will undoubtedly be a large proponent in the settling of new planets.
