【 PASO 1 】 Toma 3 hojas de papel de reciclaje y únelas en sus lados mas anchos con la cintra adhesiva. Marca su centro con ayuda del bolígrafo, y a partir de ese centro mide 10 cm a la izquierda y 10 cm a la derecha, este es el cuerpo base de tu patrón guía.

【 STEP 1 】 Take three sheets of recycled paper and tape them together along their widest sides. Mark the center with a pen, and from that center, measure 10 cm to the left and 10 cm to the right. This is the base of your guide pattern.

El cuerpo del baúl mide 14 cm, es decir 7 cm a cada lado, y a partir de esos 7 cm, tendrás las pestañas con la que unirás sus paredes, dichas pestañas miden 3 cm. La altura de las paredes será de 8 cm (los laterales, el frente y el reverso), y a partir del reverso marca una sección de 21 cm (esto es la pared posterior del mini cofre, su techo curvo, y la sección que entra dentro de la misma cajita para cerrarla).

The body of the trunk measures 14 cm, or 7 cm on each side, and from those 7 cm, you will have the tabs with which you will join its walls. These tabs measure 3 cm. The height of the walls will be 8 cm (the sides, front, and back), and from the back, mark a section of 21 cm (this is the back wall of the mini chest, its curved roof, and the section that goes inside the box itself to close it).

Recorta la figura con las tijeras, y con ayuda de la regla dobla todas sus paredes y pestañas. En caso no te guste dejar sus laterales abiertos, agrega un medio circulo de papel en sus laterales, debes obtener una altura máxima de 13 cm, no más. En total tu patrón guía debe medir en su parte mas ancha 40 cm, y en su parte mas larga 45 cm. ¡Prueba ensamblando esta pieza de papel antes del siguiente paso!.

Cut out the shape with scissors, and using a ruler, fold all the sides and tabs. If you don't like leaving the sides open, add a half circle of paper to the sides. The maximum height should be 13 cm, no more. In total, your guide pattern should measure 40 cm at its widest point and 45 cm at its longest point. Try assembling this piece of paper before moving on to the next step!

【 PASO 2 】 Transfiere la figura de tu patrón de papel a la cartulina estampada marcando todo su contorno con lápiz, recomiendo recortar con cutter para una terminación más limpia.

Transfer the shape of your paper pattern onto the patterned cardstock by tracing around the entire outline with a pencil. I recommend cutting it out with a craft knife for a cleaner finish.

Coloca la regla sobre las líneas guía que corresponden a los dobleces de la cajita, y pasa la punta de la tijera (sin abrirla) sobre ellas ejerciendo una suave presión, esto ayudará a que al doblar el cartón seda facilmente sin romper el lado estampado.

Place the ruler on the guide lines that correspond to the folds of the box, and run the tip of the scissors (without opening them) over them, applying gentle pressure. This will help the cardboard fold easily without tearing the printed side.

【 PASO 3 】 Cierra suavemente tu cofre de cartulina sin agregar pegamento todavía, confirma primero si todos los bordes coinciden, y cuando lo hagan, agrega una cantidad moderada de pegamento en las pestañas laterales y une todo, sosteniendo por un par de minutos.

【 STEP 3 】 Gently close your cardboard box without adding glue yet. First, check that all the edges line up. Once they do, add a moderate amount of glue to the side flaps and press everything together, holding it for a couple of minutes.

Si notas que la sección redondeada de los lados es un poco mas grande de lo que necesitas, no te asustes: Coloca de lado tu cofre de cartulina y marca el excedente con mucha suavidad con tu lápiz, luego recorta ese exceso con la tijera.

If you notice that the rounded section on the sides is a little larger than you need, don't panic: Place your cardboard box on its side and very gently mark the excess with your pencil, then cut off the excess with scissors.

【 PASO 4 】 Para decorar los bordes del pequeño cofre y darle un aspecto mas encantador, recorta tiras largas de cartulina metalizada de 1 cm de ancho. ¡Mide antes de cortarlas!, e instala 1 por 1 con mucho cuidado con pegamento escolar.

【 STEP 4 】 To decorate the edges of the small chest and give it a more charming look, cut long strips of metallic cardstock 1 cm wide. Measure before cutting! Carefully attach them one by one with school glue.

【 PASO 5 】 Para el toque final, elabora una pequeña figura con forma de cerradura utilizando el foami escarchado, decóralo con un pequeño marco de cartulina dorada en su interior (tiras de cartulina de 3 milímetros de ancho) y una imitación de entrada para la llave hecha en papel o cartulina, que pintaras con el marcador oscuro. Instálala justo debajo del marco dorado del frente del cofre, en su centro, sé generoso con la cantidad de pegamento escolar.

【 STEP 5 】 For the finishing touch, make a small lock-shaped figure using frosted foam, decorate it with a small gold cardboard frame inside (3-millimeter-wide cardboard strips) and an imitation keyhole made of paper or cardboard, which you will paint with a dark marker. Place it just below the gold frame on the front of the chest, in the center, and be generous with the amount of school glue.
