While organizing photos I noticed a file with a name that I didn't remember (a bad habit of mine is just naming them with just the numbers of the address only) and when I opened it, I instantly remembered the house because I really enjoyed this one and the story behind it is an all too typical (and gross) one for the area! A developer bought the property and to get around the heritage protection it has, simply left it to rot. To the point where it can't be saved or preserved, then applying to have the protection removed and bring the bulldozers in.
Then I realized that I hadn't posted the photo set of it anywhere (despite posting the video tour), so there is no time like now! The photo set and video are from the winter of 2021/22022.
Built in 1890 by a Dutch family who helped found the Toronto suburb where the house sits. This irregular styled Queen Anne Victorian home received heritage protection in 2012. After 2012, the numbered corporation who owns the property allowed it to sit abandoned and decaying. By the year 2020 the corporation applied to remove the protections and demolish all the buildings on the property.
