I've been dreaming of a self sufficient lifestyle for decades now. The house I'm currently staying at in the Philippines had its foundation put in over 20 years ago.

But it was problem after problem after problem.

I wanted fruit trees planted way back then so they would be bearing fruit now. But lets just say that things don't always go as planned.

Yesterday though? I spent my first complete day from waking up in the morning to going to bed at night in the house.

Okay, the bed isn't awesome.

The fact that I'm sleeping on the foam packing from the solar panels and not a real mattress or altfoam should tell you something.

As you can see in the main picture I'm washing laundry manually and drying it in the sun (although today was cloudy).

My shower was water from the pump well put through a USB powered pump. Unfortunately it was cold water because, well, I don't generate enough electricity to heat the water and not enough sun today to heat it either.

And getting water isn't exactly just turning on a faucet.

However, as far as exercise goes? Pumping the water is 2 sets of 30 reps of tricep extensions. Or shoulder press, or squats depending on what form I take to pump the well.

And each set gives me one bucket of water which I have to walk inside to put into the main water storage. 6 sets back and forth to get the full pail of water.

Food is a half kilometer away at my brother-in-law's sari Sari store. It is actually a nice walk and nice to say hello to family at least for a little while each day :)

It is a simple lifestyle but it is quiet, sustainable, and peaceful.

I'm really enjoying it and it allows me to get in my daily steps of 5k pretty easily :)
