Stuck In Your Truck

Okay folks so you've had a bad day and it just got worse. Your vehicle dies on a low traffic road on the way home from work or on the way out camping, etc. Whatever the circumstance may be you're not having a good time.

What steps should you take to get yourself out of this situation? Well here's a few possibilities:
  1. Call someone (AAA, Family, etc.) if you have service. If not things just got more interesting.
  2. Make your vehicle as noticeable as possible: If you have paper, make an SOS Sign, Open all of you doors and the hood and trunk, Use road flares if you have them. Basically you want your vehicle to stand out from it's surrounding environment.
  3. If your circumstance is different and you don't want to be noticed: Try to remove your vehicle from the road (do not over exert yourself, you will need all the energy you can get), try to cover your vehicle with brush (try to camouflage it), or simply leave her behind :(.
  4. If you know the route traveled: try to find a way out, stay put and wait for help, walk home if it is close enough.
  5. Stick around for the long hall and set up camp for a day or two tops. If you have seen no signs of help coming then it is time to move!
  6. Make noise; be as loud as you can without expending to much energy. If your battery is still good, then blast some tunes!
  7. This is why I believe it is important to have a vehicle emergency kit. If you don't have one; I suggest you throw one together. Having any extra help in a rough situation could take your survival situation in a whole different direction. A better direction that is!!

These are just a few ways that might help you get out of a breakdown situation. I hope this never happpens to you, but if it does keep these stings in mind! It may save your skin someday! Thank you!
