Anna looked up at the bright night sky and exhaled. The stars were glittering and the moon seemed to shine brighter than every other day she knew.
She lay on the sand outside her little cottage. She had no one but herself. She couldn't stand to watch her family wallow in sorrow and pain all because of her ailment. Everyday she woke up, she felt the pain of being a burden to them and so she made up her mind to go far away from them till the day she breathed her last.
She had been diagnosed with cancer stage four and had but a few days to live according to what her doctor told her. All she needed was to do the things she loved the most and that was being close to nature in a place that looks like the woods.
That particular night, she lay upwards in the field watching the sky and creating constellations in her mind. Tears filled her eyes as she knew it was almost gonna be her last. She had to make good use of the time and just make wishes.
With tears in her eyes, she said "if wishes could heal, I'd be healed of this cancer right now, my parents have wished me well, my friends have wished me well and I have wished I could live longer but no wishes couldn't heal" she inhaled deeply and exhaled loudly as she used the back of her palms to wipe the tears off her cheeks.
A shooting star sped past her immediately and she made a wish " I wish my parents would find my body and give me a befitting burial" . After making that wish, she closed her eyes and slept forever.
When her parents got news that she was gone, they found her body lying in the field just the way she lay before passing out. Her mom couldn't control herself and bursted out crying. Anna had carved something boldly on her door and that was if wishes could heal. It was heartbreaking to everyone who read it and a book was published in her name with the titleIf wishes could heal.
