A few months ago, I had met this lady, and we both quickly became friends due to how very friendly she was and her contagious high spirit. She happens to be one of those people who has the gift to light up a room the moment they step into it, due to how happy she always is.
Few days ago, we both sat down right outside my home. This was the first time I was seeing her in weeks, and while we were trying to catch up with what has been happening in both our lives, she began to tell me a story about her mom and the health issue the woman is currently passing through.
If I wasn't taking anything that she was saying seriously, the moment I saw tears effortlessly rolling down both her cheeks, while she still had a fake smile on her face, a futile attempt to hide what she was feeling, that was the moment I fully understood the pain she was going through.
Of course, just like most problems out there in the world, this was something money could solve easily, but unfortunately she had none. Her parents were separated, and her father wasn't exactly anything to write home about. He wasn't the kind of man who could handle responsibilities, hence the reason all of his kids had left him to go fend for themselves, including his wife.
While I sat there watching this very cheerful lady suddenly become a shadow of herself as she silently cried beside me, I had only one wish on my mind: if only I were rich enough, then I would have made all of her issues go away.
That was probably one of the few moments in my life when I had so badly wanted to be so rich in order to change a situation that didn't directly concern me. Sadly, all I could do was console her and watch her as she cleaned her tears and tried to play the whole thing like she was fine.
But deep down, I knew she was only trying to be strong, and it made the entire thing hurt me even more. If only wishes were horses.
