Cheap Tranquil
~
Once she laughed, jarred whizzing sounds
An expression of frustration lodged in her heart
High, from affordable whiskey, with a scent so profound
Cheap tranquil, that in hours depart
Tonight, she would be a jolly good fellow
A one woman party, right in her room
Lips taking booze like there is no tomorrow
In hopes to drive thoughts of pending gloom
However little it lasts, there be peace in being alive
A clear head absent of scarred memories
Like a blank page, with no thought of strife
No searching through thoughts for apologies
Face reflecting purple on the whiskey glass
As she peered into her cup, to take the dive
Purple? Bruises he painted on his young lass
The alcohol drowns years of intimacy, never to revive.
