When I took the MBTI Personality test several years ago, my result was INFP-A. I took the same test this year and still got the same result.
INFP stands for Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Perceiving. It's further categorized into two, INFP-A and INFP-T.
The difference is that A-types are more open and confident in expressing their feelings and opinions compared to T-types, who are more reserved, hesitant and tend to worry about how others see them.
I don't really mind being with people I'm close with. However, being surrounded by a lot of people makes me feel dizzy, and it takes away my energy. I enjoy spending time with my close friends, but I mostly decline invitations to parties or other events.
There are times when I just want to be alone and not talk to people. I remember that time when one of my friends asked me what the use of my phone was because I didn't reply to her messages or answer her call. From then on, she decided to send my mom a message instead because it's more likely for the message to reach me that way.
I used to work in an English Academy, and one thing I dislike about working in a company or a school is team building or other events that require my presence.
In the photo above, I was kind of forced to join the team building. My team leader was aware of my personality, so in order for me not to have an alibi, he gave me a responsibility. That way, I won't be able to refuse.
Now, I work from home... no more team building, no more events to attend to. It's perfect! :)
This trait in MBTI means one focuses on possibilities and abstract concepts rather than concrete facts.
I'm quite imaginative, and I prefer looking deeper into things rather than what I see. I guess my love for art and poetry is reflected in this trait.
I'm also the kind of person who enjoys deep conversations. I want to understand how and why people think the way they do, rather than knowing what they think about.
This is about prioritizing emotions, values and human connection rather than logic when making decisions.
My result is "F". Yes, I mostly rely on emotions... I tend to think with my heart. Although at times, I want to be more logical and think more realistically. It's difficult, though.
However, having this kind of personality has helped me a lot. I could connect with people easily. A lot of the people I met, and even my students, told me that they feel comfortable with me. I remember some of them would suddenly ask me, "Wait, why did I tell you that? and then they'd answer it themselves, "I feel comfortable talking with you, maybe that's why." XD
I must say, I'm quite empathetic and I can feel someone's emotions easily. That way, I can adjust. I think this kind of personality has helped me in my field, both as a teacher and when I was a nursing student. Well, not only in work-related situations, but life in general.
Despite being introverted, I love connecting with people on a much deeper level. I guess this is also the reason why I have few, but really close friends.
This trait is more about being flexible, adaptable and spontaneous when approaching life.
I'm a pretty chill person, I must say. I usually go with the flow, and I can easily adjust to things.
Even though my favorite Japanese word is めんどくさい (mendokusai) which translate to "It's troublesome!", when I have to do things, I do it.
I'm not good with deadlines. When I was a student, I tended to cram and do things last minute. However, I have a reason for this.
When the deadline is far away, I feel no pressure... and I don't feel inspired. But, when I find my inspiration plus the pressure, I can create something amazing! No, it's not me trying to rationalize my laziness. haha
I'm not lazy, I just like preserving my energy!
And oh... when it comes to my job, this current one is the best and it's perfect for me because the schedule is flexible, I can work from home (no meetings, no events), I can connect with people and be inspired by their stories.
This MBTI result of mine really screams my personality. I prefer solitude and introspection to being surrounded by people oozing with energy. I have a love for deep talks and connections. I'm emotional and empathetic, though I really hope to be more realistic at times. hahah And lastly, I am like flowing water that goes with the flow and adapts to various environments (even if I don't want to at times. XD)
How about you? What's your personality like? Have you ever taken an MBTI test? If not, and you're curious, you can take the test, too! :)
Thanks for reading, and see you around! I'll get back to work now. Ciao! (^^,)v
