The grandson and I went to their storage unit to go get his mother queen size bed with split twin size box spring. and we grab 14 bags that had their fall/winter clothing and shoes, some of the bags had linem and pillows, curtains, towels and rags. Then we grab 2 bags full of spices and can goods. The bed she was sleeping on was an inflatable bed that had sprung a leak, she had it tape up, when I question her about the queen size bed I bought her, she said that she couldn't get no one to help go get it, so we went, more so to get his winter coats and clothes, hers as well. Now she was telling me how she didn't want to get to know her neighbors, which is her rights. When I first got here, with the living room set, dining set, television and five garbage bags full of clothes, she was supposed to have people lined up to help, the only ome showed up was my step daughter, my nephew drove with me from Columbus, I had to literally knock on doors in her building to find someone I could pay to help. Then tonight when the grandson and I
got back with the bed tied to the roof of the car, a tenant on the second seen me struggling to carry the queen size mattress, came down the stairs and help. She was looking nor ask for any payment, she was just being neighborly, these are the peoples I like to reward,I was to tire to go to the bank, but I will surprise her tomorrow with an appreciation card with a little something inside. It took a woman to reach out to help, what happened to all the mens? what is wrong with our society? times have really change, when a man is afraid to offer help in fear of being accused of inappropriate behavior, it is truly sad, but I do understand. So when I hear people say that they do not want to get to know their neighbors, I ask myself what is wrong with them, I myself want to know my neighbors, that do not mean I want to hang out with them, but I do want to know the peoples surrounding me and my grandchildrens.
