After over a decade of using the traditional banks, I can boldly say I hate the banks. My experiences with them have been so awful and I'm talking about a wide range from their unreliability, centralisatiion, time wastage, biased nature and crazy transaction fees. I began using the traditional banks when I got into college and at the time, I felt they were created to serve the people which of course was one of the reasons for their creation but time has changed and banks are no longer the safe haven they used to be.
As we aim for the mass adoption of cryptos, we can agree that banks are a necessary evil at the moment. We still depend on banks for fiat and financial services, but the emergence of Fintechs has given quite a lot of us a different banking experience. I'm not a fan of the banks, but since I switched to Fintechs for my financial services 3 years ago, I've had a more pleasant experience than I ever had in my several years of using the traditional banks.
I've literally haven't visited any traditional bank in about 3 years since I began using Fintechs. I was never happy going to the bank for anything and maybe it's just a little bit different here, but I believe many of their flaws aren't country specific. Flaws like delays, network failures, fees for basically everything you do and don't do, poor customer services and how they favour mostly the elites in the society.
Honestly, since I switched to a Fintech company, I don't experience the poor experiences I used to have with the traditional banks. I get a couple free transactions every month, fast transactions, reliable service and most especially, an unbiased, quick and helpful customer service. Even though both banking systems are controlled by the Central banks and there are some regulations placed on them with respect to cryptocurrency transactions, I feel a safer with Fintech companies than with the traditional banks.
I'm one of those people who tend to refer people to a good service when I use one and I've literally done that ever since I started using Fintechs. It's hard to tell what the future of Fintechs will be especially since they're controlled by the government indirectly so I'm strongly supporting the move for mass adoption of cryptocurrencies in my country to completely eliminate my use of the banks. It may take a long time, but it would happen someday but till then, Fintechs are my safe haven.
