Having dabbled in Bitcoin for the past couple of years and never making more than I put in over that period, it made me think about it recently as to what was the point to it all? I remember my initial thoughts in the beginning were about making some quick money on trying to mine on my home computer, that never really took off and looking back at the cash i spent on dodgy cloud mining sites, I could have put that to good use now on other currencies such as Eth.
So this weekend I began looking around at other coins and it is unbelievable that there are so many! some better than others, some I don't even understand what they are about but yet they appear at $0.10 +. Who would have thought that when Bitcoin was down at the £100 mark years ago that Crypto Currencies would have taken off in such a way. I remember saying to a friend (who also got the Crypto bug), that I would be surprised if Bitcoin ever reached £1000 and i thought back then when he bought his first BTC at £350 he was daft...... he's laughing his head off now and fair play to him, if only I had invested back then (even before when the cost was lower).
So after looking on Bittrex ( A popular exchange) i decided to trade a few quid on a couple of coins that I had never heard of before. PIVX was the first. Thanks to a Steemit post I read, it sparked an interest in what they offer and in my opinion they have a decent system they are building. The next was a couple of Steem. Ever since joining this project I had every intention of investing / purchasing Steem but never did but after reading a few posts and having a nosey through the stories on here, I really believe in the product and what the Steem folks have created for us - having been a lite facebook user over the years, i always wanted a social site that was a little more than silly video posts and posts about what people are doing every second of the day, I wanted something to instigate thought, to read about things that were new to me and from different places around the world that sparks my imagination .
The next three I exchanged were MaidSafe, Ark and AEON (AEON I mine through minergate - albeit slowly). Again, I like the products, or the sound of them at least - I may not fully understand them but if i can see potential uses in society then that is a good idea to me and one i would promote. Whether the coins I have chosen so far are any good? yet has to be seen, I teased with PINK and XLM oh and canceled an exchange on another that I can't even remember its tag now. So many choices and I'm sure a lot of them are good causes that will do good for the world, hopefully the ones I have chosen will prosper and grow.
Do you have any favourites at the moment?
I use a couple of cloud mining sites too that trickle a couple of quid a week now. That too has been a bumpy ride for me as I appeared to go through a faze of bad choices on Sites. The best bad site I joined was TopMine. It was excellent, visible mining, decent costs to purchase or transfer earnings to more mining power, I even had regular withdrawals from mining earnings over 6 months. I thought I had finally found a winner but no, it disappeared overnight with no warning taking with it my mined Eth I had decided to leave in and withdraw at later intervals. After that there was another site I wrongly chose to be 'the one' and again lost a small amount of Bitcoin through it. But after both of those poor decisions, I believe i have finally found the two sites that actually work and i would have no problem promoting them to you all as working, trustworthy cloud mining.
The First is Hashnest. This is actually ran by Bitmain who build and create the Antminers that mine Bitcoin around the world. I have been a member for around 3 years now on and off the first 2 but mining now for 6 months with 500GHS.

The Second is Hashflare. This too has been a steady option for me and everynow and then I stick another £10 in for 1MHs of Scrypt power. Never going to make me a millionaire but with the funds I have available to me that's the best I can do. here is a link to that one.
I also use Eobot. These appear to be stable and you can mine quite a few different coins on here such as BTS (BitShares), XRP (Ripple), zCash and even Gold (which only gets shipped to you and cant be transferred to another coin currency) Oh and Steem!. It's not the cheapest but works and I have had a fair few withdrawals from the site with no hiccups. Here is a link to that one -
