Hi there Steemians.
So lately I noticed this flower growing on a cacti. A cacti that I thought was only a normal cacti.
The flower is holds is probably one of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen in my life. Especially when the flower opens up all the way.
Me and my goose struggled for a long while to figure out what its name is exactly and we are still uncertain because some pictures we found looked like the flower but the cacti itself was not the same. So it proves difficult to narrow down its scientific name. But none the less its part of the Queen of the night species.
These flowers only bloom at night after the sunset. And close up again in the early morning hours. Why it does that I am unsure of.
It is said that the plant is indigenous to South America and the Caribbean. But ever since I saw ours on the farm I noticed them all around the country side.. Not in abundance but here and there I see a few.
It saddens me to think how we struggle today just to find out what a flowers name is. A flower that grows around us everyday, a flower that I've probably seen before but never paid attention as to what I am seeing. But show me or any other person a company logo and 99% will be able to geuss the company on the first try. We have outgrown the love for the earth.
