The mother and baby giraffe were discovered by villagers in Ishaqbini Hirola, the protected area to the east of Kenya.

The members of the Hirola protection program came to the area to search for white giraffes.

Members of the program described their lives when they were viewing white perspectives: "We were hovering around and the giraffe was trying to protect her child like every mother in the wild, while we were hiding behind her to see the baby giraffe."

The white skin of these giraffes is not like albinism, which is a skin disease in humans. Due to the lack of color (leucism) caused by the inhibition of the formation of pigments in the skin cells, these giraffes in Kenya have a white color.

White giraffes estimated to have a population of 97,500 were classified as 'sensitive' by the international union for the conservation of nature.
