For a few reasons I won't say, I'm choosing to stay anonymous right now. However, as tradition seems to be here on steemit, I should introduce something of myself. My story is rarely shared, but I think it's one worth sharing if today, you want to remember how lucky you are, to be alive.
When I was born, it was like out of a novel. I don't remember it, so it is like a story to me. I was growing in my mother's womb for months while she was in jail for crimes against humanities. For speaking her mind. A prisoner of conscious, so to speak. My father too. Although the jailers tortured my parents, even while my mother was pregnant with me, I survived. But not just through the strength of my mother, but by also the extra vitamins and food my father would decline to receive and ask the jailor to pass on to my mother, so there would be enough for both of us.
Months went by while my parents lived in a horrible state and soon came the time for me to be born. They let my mother and father go to a hospital so I could be born, as the unsanitary conditions in the prison was no place for a successful birth. What you may not know is that although out of jail now, there was another kind of crime being committed.
The higher up in the military were stealing newborns and raising them as their own children. So my parents had to hold on to me, more than ever.
And they did. I was born , not perfectly healthy, but enough to have a good shot at life. Shortly after I was born, my parents had enough of the military dictatorship in Argentina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_War), and took off to another country as refugees. I know it wasn't easy for them. They left their friends and family, the only life they've ever known and landed in a completely different climate, culture and language.
I grew up learning 3 languages, learning to drive and fly almost anything and mastering IT. I mean, who knows when I'd have to leave again, right? But when I did, it was by choice, coming and going as I pleased from my new adopted country. What a difference it makes when you have a country that supports you for the effort you put in, and not where what you look like or where you came from. Because you can't choose where you come from, nor did your parents or theirs.
Here I am now. I live in freedom. Thank you, mama and papa!
As for my next post, I don't know, but I will choose something from my arsenal of knowledge in bitcoin, tidbits of wisdom from people I've learned in my extensive travels around the planet, or perhaps something very odd or interesting to spice up your feed.
Remember... appreciate, smile and enjoy!
