The Hebrew word for peace is "shalom," which means "nothing among us." Also, it means perfect, complete; security, strength, health, tranquility, quietness, prosperity, abundance. Jesus came to reconcile the world with God.
"20 ... and through him to reconcile all things to himself, both those on earth and those in heaven, making peace through the blood of his cross." Colossians 1.20
The three dimensions of peace are:
- Peace with God: It is that peace that we receive when we accept the justification of our sins; by being reconciled with the Father, our relationship with Him is restored

Peace with our neighbor and with our brother: It is that peace that allows us to approach our brother without walls or divisions between us. It is the peace that, through the fruit of love, arises in each one of us; for we are no longer looking for our own good but for our brother's.
Peace with ourselves: The fact of having been justified gives us inner peace. No person can have peace with himself or with others, if he first does not have peace with God. You can have many earthly possessions but if you do not have peace with God, you are useless.
What is the difference between the peace that the world offers and the peace that God gives?
The peace of the world depends on the circumstances that surround us. People do not have peace when they lose control over problems. v The peace of God comes as a result of putting all our trust in Him. It is a peace based on our covenant with Him, not in the circumstances that surround us.
"I will produce the fruit of my lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and near, says the Lord; and I will heal it 20.But the wicked are like the stormy sea, which can not stand still, and its waters cast silt and mud. 21There is no peace, said my God, for the wicked. "
