The Friendly sons of St Patrick Monument

I have often driven past these flags and monument when heading to Fort Taber or East Beach along East Rodney French Blvd and recently I walked that way to get a few shots of it

As you can see it was an early morning walk with the glow of sunrise in the background.
I always knew I had some Irish Ancestry and have visited Ireland a few times and always have an thing for all things Irish, but when I did my DNA through Ancestry, I found I was 60% Irish and quite pleased about that, when it comes to sport I support three teams, all Rugby, the New Zealand All Blacks of course, Ireland, and anyone playing against Australia ( Sorry to my Australian friends just joking its something us Kiwis say)

I wanted to get shots of it with some shades of color in the background that's why I went there on the morning I took these
I love the details in this monument

The Monument as you can see is a Celtic cross and is an 18-foot 1700-pound granite monument was built through the efforts of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick as a way to memorialize the service and sacrifices of Irish immigrants.

And some info about about the Friendly sons of Ireland on their website which I have copied below
The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to promoting an increased awareness of the cultural achievements of the Irish people. This fraternal association is located in the City of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

In addition to our stated goal the organization forms a thriving, community oriented group sponsoring more than a dozen scholarships annually, totaling over $20,000 in 2020. These scholarships are awarded, based on academic merit and need, to deserving local students, regardless of their heritage.

Food and toy distribution at holiday times, golf tournaments, the management of the famed New Bedford Half-Marathon, Taste of SouthCoast, and a smartly uniformed presence at parades and festivals, are among the many other socially conscious activities undertaken by the association.

As you can see I took shots of it from various angles
