Grand Central terminal

I shared some shots inside Grand Central Terminal the other day, and for this morning's post I thought I would share some shots of a couple of the entrances to the terminal.

Starting with this shot of the entrance by Vanderbilt Ave and 42nd Street, Quite a stylish entrance, with all the lights but perhaps more so with the eagle above the entrance, which has a 13-foot wingspan and weighing about 4000 pounds.

These eagles were on the B Grand Central Depot, built by William Vanderbilt in 1898 as the expansion of the old station, and is the predecessor of Ground Central terminal which was opened in 1913, the Eagles were sold when the terminal was rebuilt and shipped all over, but two of them including this one were returned to Grand Central where they stand proudly.

Here is a wider out shot of the same entrance, you can see also tot he right the Park Ave Overpass that goes through Grand Central lit up with reds and blues in the early morning, these shots were taken around 7Am so not to many people but later in the day it gets busy there

And another of the entrances on 42nd Street, I did get a shot with the doors closed but I decided to go with this shot with a person going out, part of my trying to get more shots including people in them
