We always say falling in love is a wonderful feeling, and as I remember it is a funny quote in Visayan language "and gugma murag bubble gum, makapilit, makabuang" but this story happened to be a past relationship of both good friends of mine. I just call them L(girl) and R(boy) (stand's for Love and Romance)
Let me start here, L and R met in Manila, they are both working students as a typical working student they work by day and study at night. It wasn't easy for them especially for R, because he have no relatives in Manila and he need also had to save some money to send his family to Davao de Oro. L lives in Metro Manila she is helping her family in the market to sell fish, vegetables, and others. They are in the same school but they never cross each other's path until one day R's cousin was in Manila to work with his uncle. R is happy at least he has someone to be with. Months pass by L and R are both minding their own business, in the morning L also has a sideline in school, she sells palitaw and bananaQ. R's cousin, one day he pass by L selling bananaQ and palitaw, R's cousin bought some paitaw and bananaQ and brought some to R. R like the food and wanted to buy some so that he can eat some snacks after school. His cousin accompanied R to L's stole near the school.
You know the feeling of love at first sight, that R constantly buy palitaw and bananaQ to L, and since they are in the same school he makes a way to be close to her, at first L didn't mind R's presence, he is a stubborn, funny and annoying guy and L doesn't like it at first. Later on, because R is persistent to win L's heart, she becomes his girlfriend. In the long run, they enjoy the relationship, they also experienced the on and off relationship than one day R can no longer focus more on his studies because of the problem back home, he stopped his schooling and focus on his job in the factory. They both focus on their job and L continue to study.
Sometimes in life, we always thought that problems are easy to solve when there is someone to lean on and it will just pass by. But they were tested by time, L get pregnant and they never expected it. R has a problem back home, L is on her studies they are not ready to have a child. As expected L's parents are unhappy, she stopped attending school and make herself busy working to earn money for her pregnancy. R was worried about what would be his life and L's life with the baby they have nothing and living in Manila with a child is difficult. After L give birth she told L that he will be going back home and it's up to L if she will be coming with him or not. R told L that he can't live a life that she wanted to have like the life she has now with her family. L is a strong woman she is open-minded she knows and understands R's life situation back home, she told R that she will stay for a while with her family and think about their relationship and what is best for both of them and their baby.

Let me continue my story. R left L and their baby in Manila, he went home in Davao de Oro. He wasn't sure about his decision, he was questioning himself, he knows that he was wrong but he is not ready for the responsibility that he is facing now. He love L and his baby but he is not ready yet. When he arrived at their home, R told his mother everything, his mother was upset living L and the baby but R explained his reason. R got a job he makes himself busy for a while and for many months L contact him telling that she is coming over to live with him. R wasn't expecting the decision that L did and after a few weeks they arrived in Davao de Oro. R wasn't prepared at all their house are small to fit all of them and they need to rent a house, he have no savings for all the expenses that they are facing, L insisted that she save some but R told her until when would her savings last.
They really have difficult time they both undergrad and have no fix job to find, R got an on and off jobs and the salary rate is low, L could not work because of the baby. R staring to loose his focus, he always stay out late and sometimes went home drunk. There are also time that he is not home for a few days and L don't know where he is. They started to fight about the things R is doing to his life, L could no longer talk to R about their future and what would they do for their child, when they start talking about it, it would end up fighting. It's almost nine months that L stayed in Davao de Oro, now he wanted it final, she don't want to raise a child in that environment they have, the fighting, no enough food and all the hardships they experience. She know that she could provide better for her child and she don't want to stress herself and insisted to R their presence. She decided to go back to Manila, R didn't hold them back she let them be and it's the end of their relationship the baby is already 9 months old. L was calm while saying goodbye to R, she wishes R well and hopefully he can live a life that he wanted.
L left R forever, they seldom talk and if they have time R is just asking for their baby nothing more. Then there comes a time that they no longer communicate. After how many years R got a news that L went abroad to work and their son is already 5 yrs. old. The child didn't know that he is the father, L left their child to her parents, L didn't have any relationship after she left R she just focus her time to her child. R just absorb the news that his cousin told him, he was thinking they have a wonderful life than him. R went through many difficult times, he got into many relationship and failed his life went to a real roller coaster ride untill one day he found another girl that changes his life. He confide everything to her, that he already have a child with some and the new girl understand they built a life that he haven't give before to L. He became responsible in everything he does, the struggle is there but they both fight it together.
R is lucky to have a new life with her (his wife now) they have 2 son's and he is a hand's on father. He worked hard to provide for his family they may have problems but thats normal. Who could knew that R would have a better life, everybody could tell that he wouldn't change, but he did and he proves them wrong. He was happy and contented with his life he thought of his son to L sometimes and talk to his wife about it that he wanted to visit his son if they would allow him. Then one day without knowing L is looking for him, she got his cell number from R's sister, they talk on the phone L told R that their son is already graduating in elementary and ask about him, R was happy hearing that news, but L told R that its not the right time yet. L wanted the kid finish his studies first maybe after college they would see each other. R didn't disagree he thought it would be good so that it won't distrust the focus of the child.
Year's pass, L was still working abroad and R living his own life with his family. The phone rang and R answed, his sister was on the other line telling him that L is already gone (died). R could not believe what he heard 2 years past they talk on the phone and L didn't mention that she is sick. L died from colon cancer, R could not sleep he was thinking when it started, his sister told him that L was already in Manila a year ago and refused to be treated it was already on its 4th stage. All the memories that they have came back to R, if he could only stand for them before she was his everything but he could not give it to them even himself. Thats the only thing that he can do now to have a flash back and regrets. R called L sister and talk to her, L sister told R that even a bit L didn't regret everything what happened between them, she was happy having a son with him and maybe someday they would face each other as father and son.

Did I make you cry? me too. They have the right love at a wrong time. Sometimes we need to experience pain to learn and to strive better.
