Greetings friends! Today I started my walk from the embankment of the Obvodny Canal. I walked through a very unusual and atmospheric space of the former rubber products factory "Red Triangle". The territory of the factory begins just behind this white fence, the gate is a little further.
The information on the shield begins with the words "Police warn: Beware of scammers!" This is a warning about phone scammers who call on the phone and introduce themselves as bank employees. The writing on the wall seems to be in dialogue with this warning: "Who will save you from yourself?"
Just outside the gate is a beautiful art object: a rubber Christmas tree. The Christmas decorations are still up - indeed, the snow is still lying, so it's too early to take off the tinsel and garlands:)
The "Triangle" factory occupies a large block behind the Obvodny Canal. The factory buildings are now partly rented out and partly decaying. The old halls are occupied by rehearsal rooms and photo studios, workshops and warehouses. Ten or fifteen years ago, the area was heavily neglected and deserted, to be here was uncomfortable (not to say scary). But now it's quite lively, with lots of people walking around and small, cozy cafes. I sometimes cut a corner on the road, walking from the Obvodny Canal to Narvsky Prospect through the territory of this factory.
The "Triangle" or "Red Triangle" factory was the first rubber goods factory in Russia. It was founded in the middle of the 19th century. It was named after the stamp that was used to mark the products. First they made up a convenient stamp, and then its form was reflected verbally in the name of the factory. "Triangle" was famous for the quality of its products, which were even supplied to the court of His Imperial Majesty. The adjective "red" was added at the beginning of the 20th century, after the revolution. Under the Soviets, the factory was expanding and production volumes were growing. But the new forms of management proved to be poorly applicable to an enterprise of such scale. At the end of the 20th century "Red Triangle" was declared bankrupt. At this point the history of success and prosperity ended, and the history of decline and dilapidation began.
