I took this short walk last July. It began on the embankment of the Fontanka River near the Krasnoarmeyskiy pedestrian bridge. I crossed this bridge and headed towards the cathedral, its blue domes are visible in front.
The column of Glory of the Izmailovsky Regiment was erected in front of the Izmailovsky Cathedral in memory of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878.
This column was built from guns captured in battle. Around the column were also placed captured weapons.
This monument was destroyed during the Soviet era, but restored in 2005.
I continued my walk and made a stop in a small garden with a fountain. In this hot summer weather, it was very nice to sit on a bench nearby.
This is a subway ventilation shaft:
I walked around the cathedral, and again I saw it after a while, already on the opposite side, from the Jacobstadt lane.
This is my entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge by @tattoodjay.
