The new content discovery mechanism on Hive is working well. This is something that was absent and is really helping the ecosystem.
We are in the early stages of Veews, with the application being roughly 2 weeks old. However, there were a number of updates that make the user experience a bit better. One of the keys is in the area of content distribution. With a few buttons added, we can now Thread, Tweet, and DBuzz out articles or posts we find interesting.
That said, there is something else that I noticed when using this platform. It is something that is crucial for the success on Hive. Rewarding newer content creators or underappreciated posts is vital. For this reason, I find Veews to be extremely helpful.
For those who do not know, Veews is similar to the old Stumbleupon application. This allowed people to basically search for content based upon their preferences. As one gives a thumbs up, or down, it tells the learning engine what is desired. Over time, the goal is for you to get more of the content you like by using different attributes in the post.
It starts with the tags them moves onto different keywords and other parameters in the article. This will help to sort the content, presenting you, hopefully, with what is preferred.
Of course, this is a process and, to start, the posts can be all over the place. This is fine since it tends to show us content that isn't always sought after. One thing I can state after a couple weeks using it: there are a lot of quality content creators on Hive.
Giving Out Rewards To Content Creators
We all know that it is hard to find new content. Even for those who want to manually curate, there is a problem since it takes a long time to scroll through the new sections. Veews solves this problem to a large degree.
By hitting the "Next" button, we get a new page brought up within a second. Hence, we can go through hundreds of pages in a rather quick period of time. Naturally, we are not able to read all of them but there are often pages we have little interest in. At the same time, we do get a lot of quick posts like photography (if an area of interest) or some other posts that aren't as lengthy.
One of the things I like to do is scroll down to check out the rewards of a post. If there is some substance to it, even if not a topic I am particular fond of, I will give it a slight Hive upvote (this is a separate function from the thumbs up/down which trains the learning engine).
Here is an example:
This was a post that I can across using Veews. It wasn't a second coming of Gone with the Wind but it did take a bit of time. For that reason, I handed a small upvote.
As we can see, the post reward went from .012 to .065. Obviously, this isn't going to make anyone rich but it does provide a bit more to the pot. Hopefully, it serves as a motivation to keep going. We all know how demoralizing it is to get nothing on a post when we first get started.
The point is this can be done dozens of times a day. There are plenty of posts that don't have enormous rewards yet a bit can be added. In this instance, my upvote gave a 5x increase.
We also have to note this is in Hive. There is also LEO attached to the upvote, something not registered here. In fact, the LEO payout on this vote, in USD, is close to what it is in Hive.
It is a process that I keep repeating each day. Basically, there are small amounts of $HIVE and LEO being given to posts that show some effort but have almost no rewards.
Ultimately, this helps with the distribution of both currencies. The more wallets with these coins/tokens, the better.
Veews is rapidly becoming a very useful tool for Hive. With some of the updates, it is becoming something that will become a hub for those looking to discover and distribute content.
