Two heavyweights in the cryptocurrency world are aware of Steem and had a couple nice things to say about it.
They got into a conversation about initial funding and how companies (projects) that get a lot of funding end up not rolling things out at a rapid pace. Datadash talks about how there was a company he worked for that looked to bring out something every week. A competitor, who received a large amount of funding, did very little.
It is interesting that Heart mentioned "serial token founders like Larimer", guys who just going from one project to the next raising money. This is what brought up the topic of Bitshare and Steem.
Heart also stated this: "Oh what's a successful ICO? I'm like BNB and STEEM."
Good point to start is about 24:30.
Leaving aside the fact that Steem did not have an ICO, the point is on target. Steem does have users and there is actual activity on the blockchain in terms of development. This is something that a lot of blockchains are not experiencing. Once again, it is easy to fall into the trap of comparing Steem's numbers to those of centralized entities without realizing how small this industry really is at the moment.
Datadash also had some complimentary things to say about Steem and how all his friends enjoy it.
Regardless of how one feels about these two individuals, it is good to see that Steem is on the radar for some people. It is easy to dwell upon the fallback from the numbers that were around a couple years ago. However, those who are in the industry realize that everything is down across the board and build out is rather slow.
There is no doubt that Steem had some major issues over the past few years. That said, the blockchain is still seeing growth and expansion. More applications are showing up with the number of users slowly growing. Steemfest showed that there is some exciting stuff in the works that will be rolled out within 6 months.
I believe it is important to remember what was accomplished this year. We can easily lose sight of the fact things were a mess at the beginning of the year. There was no tribes, Steem-Engine, MIRA, SMTs, or Communities. Yet, in spite of everything that took place, these things all came into being. Now, we are seeing Tribes that are updating their platform, adding more features for their users.
We are closing out what I consider to be a very successful year on Steem. Since I joined, this year saw more progress than any other. It obviously is not showing up in the number of users but the development jumped off the charts. In this game, that is the first step. Without something to offer, there will be no users in the end.
My feeling is we are going to see something much bigger in 2020. A couple of big hits and Steem will ascend quickly. We are already on the radar of guys like Heart and Datadash. It won't take much to open (re-open) their eyes.
Steem should have a very exciting 2020.
