We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.
1. I Woke Up for That?
While I am glad that Australia is through to the knockout rounds of the World Cup, I woke up before five in the morning to watch their third game against Paraguay. I took the dog out for a pee first and missed the kick-off by a couple minutes, not that it mattered. It was probably the most boring game of football I have seen in a long time. Since both teams only needed a draw to go through, Australia gave a half-hearted attempt at goals, while Paraguay didn't even bother and I think they finished with one shot on goal in ninety minutes.
Lame.
2. Is Rude the new Norm?
Lately, I have noticed a further drop in social skills across multiple interactions, where there is not even the attempt to be interested or kind. In multiple instances the people have just been rude, with no need to be other than them not wanting to spend the time to not be rude. I have many potential reasons for it, but I wonder if other people have noticed a recent further drop in politeness and social etiquette?
3. Can I be the new UK Prime Minister?
I mean, they are going to have their seventh in the last decade, so it is not like I would be expected to hold the seat for too long. And who knows, perhaps I will hold it longer than some of the fools that have been there. Is the job really so difficult, or is it that society today is not conducive to a stable government, unless it is a dictatorship?
