The week has passed by slowly and it has been far from pleasant, despite spending time doing enjoyable things. I had me treatment a few days ago and I am still feeling the effects, listless body and a muddled mind with each move, whether physical or psychological, being labored. My body aches and my mind is numb, but there are still things to get done.
Wouldn't life be easier if I won the lottery?
It seems like the solution to all of our problems and in one way or another, we have all wished for it and considered what we might do if it came to pass; a new house, car, travel, live debt free?
We want it fast, we want it easy, we want the benefits without the work put in. It is why TV shopping works to sell so much crap that ends up gathering dust in storage, barely used. They promise quick, effortless results - results that don't require much change - just use their product and you will be healthier, better looking, save time, make more money - whatever your wish - there is a product that promises to deliver without you needing to change.
That's winning the lottery isn't it? Getting what one wants without having to make the changes to generate the value oneself. For a dollar, you can be a one-percenter - *you don't even have to think of the numbers, they can pick them for you.
The lottery is highly attractive as it makes us believe we have a much better chance than we actually have and due to the sheer ludicrousness of the out-sized return for input, it makes us imagine the outcomes, forces us to think about and feel what it would be like to hold that kind of wealth. And once we imagine it, once we can virtually taste it and we want in, we feel we can win.
Patience is rare in the world of on-demand everything and when everything is on-demand, no sill is needed other than the cash to pay for the order and even then, many use credit.
It is a funny thing in this world in which we live, so many are looking for a career filled with passion, yet do not want to invest into it. The expectation is that all that we dream will fall into our laps and all we need do is want for it. - Yet I think many will be left wanting.
