About 12 hours ago I posted this into a chat:
I started at 27th when I bought my packs a week or two ago and have steadily dropped and then gone from 57th to 70th overnight.
Now it is this:
So, 70,000 packs have been sold in the last 12 hours and 10,000 of them were bonus packs, or around 15%. That means a lot of the packs bought qualified for a sizable bonus of either 15% for 500 packs or 20% for 2000 packs. This is to be expected as today was the last drop of vouchers that qualify for the Doctor Blight promo card and people have been waiting to get as many as they can to buy for the tiers and get the bonus packs.
Today marked the crossing of the 50% sold mark, but with a week left of the vouchers being able to be used, I expect that most are going to be spent, as the benefits of getting a promo card are likely worth more than the selling of the vouchers on the market, at least for those who have enough vouchers and the extra $4 a pack (max) to use them.
I now sit at 87th, but I expect to not be on the top 100 list by the morning.
This has been really interesting to take part in and I have spent a lot in order to get as many packs as I have, but I think it will be worth it long term. With the spike in HIVE today, I also picked up a little more SPS so that once the drop at double the emissions happens, I will be able to get around 200 vouchers. I came very close to buying more on the market, but I have decided that instead, I will wait for the open sale and hope there are some left for me.
There has been a lot of "game" in this process and I don't think it is over yet, as there are still many people vying for the top 6 positions with which you can be part of designing a legendary summoner, while other are trying to get to tiers to square off another promo and perhaps, up it to a gold guaranteed.
I still find a lot of this crazy - but, here I am...
Once people start opening their packs, the cards will also contribute to the Airdrop Points for SPS. This is based on the quality of the cards held, so it is going to be good to take note of what the average added value per 100 packs opened is going to be. Unopened, each pack is worth 300 points, but will they be more than that once cracked? With a much lower burn rate, it is going to be unlikely perhaps. It will be bumped up for those who can score some gold cards and legendaries, as well as the guaranteed promos. But I think the real value will be in the cards themselves anyway, so the airdrop points on the cards is just a bit of a bonus. Though for some, that is going to be quite significant with still over 200 days left in the SPS drop.
Splinterlands is taking far more of my time than I had anticipated and, I only play a few days of each season. The management of various aspects of it takes a great deal of time and while it is worth it, it is also takes time away from the million other things I have to keep juggling. At some point, I am going to drop a ball and as I bend to pick it up, all the rest will fall too - one day though, I will find the courage to cut back and focus on less, while hopefully being more effective.
They say, "work smarter, not harder", but I believe that when there is opportunity, if possible, work smarter and hard and double down on the results. The problem is that there is so much opportunity now that it is impossible to keep up with it all, no matter how smart a person is and, I am not very smart.
So I have to work hard, harder.
Right, that is going to be a challenge, but there are six weeks to go before the end of the year and maybe only 3 months left in this bullrun, so who knows, if I can work hard harder now, maybe by the end of the run I will be able to get smarter and take a little time off. A week or two perhaps, before getting back into it to build for the next five year plan.
Opportunity is endless - my energy is not. It is time for bed :)
