My embarrassment is I don't speak well enough, considering my time here. It is far too easy to get away with English for most things, but my wife's family doesn't speak much English - even though they could. They are embarrassed.

I think it's time I popped over to get to know them in person.

For sure. It is a bit different here to Sweden - less stylish, more down to earth :)
