In any healthy city, transport is a key factor of the infrastructure and the best functioning cities in the world have multiple structures to support moving people to and from where they need or want to be. A transportation network is much like a communication system except instead of moving people, communication moves ideas. There are various ways to achieve the transportation of ideas and depending on the target destination, the delivery method is going to shift.
Our content is is our idea and how we transport it to the audience will be influenced on both the type of content and what we are trying to achieve. What I notice is that many people seem to not think about their audience when they are writing or the delivery method they use. This is of course personal but, I do think that they are still looking for an audience to read their work but do they give themselves the best opportunity?
I deal with a lot of technical people and something that often frustrates them is having to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences. They complain that the audience doesn't get it but, as Einstein said, if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. The other aspect I find interesting is that these same people view themselves as efficient and logical thinkers but, if they are unable to communicate their ideas effectively to who they need to, where is their efficiency and logic perception feedback coming from?
If they were efficient and logical, when they are presenting to a non-tech audience they would find the most efficient ways to deliver their ideas and for the most part, that is via mass transportation that doesn't target any one member of the group but caters for all. However, this will change when they are looking at niche audience groups.
It is much easier to just write and present ourselves as we want and there is no problem in doing so but, it also means that we are going to have issues transporting our ideas to many people. Again, there is no problem in this either unless what you are looking for is a larger audience for your work.
How do you approach the presentation of your work, who is your target audience, what delivery methods do you use? Have you thought much about it?
Within the city, transportation is key and within the Steem city, communication is that key. The infrastructure is there but it isn't built to automatically connect the audience to the individual, groundwork needs to be done by the posting account. This takes a certain amount of investment, interaction, discussion, trial and error until the connections are made. In time, perhaps more of it will get automated but for now, we have to drive ourselves.
