To close off what has been action-packed couple days for Smallsteps, I took her back to the climbing centre we went to as a family a couple months ago. She really enjoys it there, and keeps setting herself new challenges to reach, though this time the speed wall was not operational.
Monday is a public holiday for the Epiphany in Finland, so it a long weekend and she won't go back to school until Tuesday, but while this was the last day that it would be daddy-daughter time only until then, so it was nice to start the day on the ice skating, and finish on a literal high with the climb.
There weren't too many people there today, so there was pretty much no waiting for any of the walls, however Smallsteps started to get some stomach pains, and had to sit out for ten minutes or so. Not wanting to give up the opportunity, she decided to go on rather than go home, and the pains passed. She was happy she made it to the top of the "light" one for the first time too.
As my shoulder isn't up to the task of lifting a mouse, let alone my own body weight, I was able to spend the time helping Smallsteps and taking a few pictures along the way with my camera. My shoulder didn't like taking photos either and I can feel it now, but it also felt good to use it again. I don't take enough photos these days.
All in all, a good start to the weekend and now since my wife is knackered after only two days back at work, it is great to go into a long weekend again, where we will have lunch with the parents tomorrow, and possibly a meetup with a couple friends for a coffee together as a family. I am hoping for a pretty chilled weekend.
Next week I have a few medical appointments on the cards, and will make an earnest start on getting in contact with my network to see if I can rustle up some interest for business. I can already feel the dread building in my body at the prospect, but it is one of those gotta do what you've gotta do kinds of situations. It could be worse I guess.
While I don't have any motivation, at least I have a good reason to try to get my professional life back on track...
We all have our pains, and we all have our walls to climb.
