This is my week "off" and I have been at home painting walls with their final topcoat in some sections. It isn't fun work, it doesn't take a lot of thought, but it isn't very good on my neck after several days in a row of it. It is getting there however, so it is nice to see some progress.
To take a break from the fumes, I went for a walk into the garden with the camera to see what Spring has brought for me so far. With everything going on, we haven't been out in the yard much, but the weather is quite pleasant today, so it was a nice little interlude.
I was not the only one enjoying it, s the bees were having a field day on the cherry and pear trees that are in blossom, as well as all of the little flowers (and weeds) on the ground.
I don't know if they are classed as weeds here, but I like Forget-Me-Not flowers so have let them grow wild, rather than cut them down. The bees seem to like them too.
Though they make it all look very sexual.
This season, we also have a few more tulips than last, though we haven't planted any at all. The deer in the area have moved on down the block from the reports from friends and have left our bulbs alone.
The raspberry stalks are also getting some leaves now and it won't be too long til the raspberries start growing, though it will be a little while before they are ready to eat, toward the end of the summer.
And the mint for my mojitos is coming along nicely. I will look around for some chocolate mint too this year, as it is delicious.
But, how happy are the bees looking in the dandelions! I have always loved photographing bees, even before Hive, but now I have an additional reason to get more images to use in posts. There is so much pollen at the moment that it is hard to get a clean shot. Also, my allergies aren't making it any easier to stay still without sneezing, coughing or breathing like Darth Vader.
I think that at this time of year, my daughter might have the best view from her window in the world - as it is filled with pear blossoms and the budding apple blossoms will not be too far behind. I took most of these next shots from out of her side window.
Previously, this window wouldn't have been used at all, but now that we have opened up and insulated the attics, there are now three small windows on the sides of the house extra. It has not only made a difference to the view, but it gives us a lot more airflow through the top floor of the house, and since we won't get the air-conditioning in this year, it will hopefully keep it slightly cooler on the hot days. There aren't many - but upstairs gets very warm.
Well, like I said, this was a bit of an interlude post to break up the monotony of my day, as well as the talk about Hive and financial content I tend to post about these days. I like writing about lots of topics, but I still prefer the content that people engage with and like it or not, that is generally what we all have in common - Hive and money. There is more to life than these things, but I also think that it is possible to blend Hive and Life in together to get a good Hive-Life balance.
Ok. Back to work on my week off.
