Not too sure why, but we have a lot of banana flies this year. So much so, I asked my wife to pick up some fly spray on her way home, as we don't keep any in the house. It is actually very uncommon in Finland, but I don't think there is a house in Australia without a can in the cupboard.
The shop didn't have any.
So she grabbed these sticky fly traps instead. I am not sure if they are better or worse, but they seem to do the job. And since they are trapped there on a piece if sticky card in the shape of a butterfly, I thought I would try to get a shot. These little suckers are about 3 mm in length, so they aren't exactly huge.
I have no idea how to get in close enough and maintain clarity, and I tried some extenders and a flash. It is late at night, so my patience isn't very high, but I took a few shots all the same to see if there was anything usable.
Not much.
But perhaps something interesting, so I edited them on my phone (Lightroom mobile) and think that despite the lack of detail, I still quite like them. I might try again with a few different settings sometime to see if I can improve the result.
What do you think?
Even at this resolution, can you imagine how incredible this view would have been in da Vinci's time? How much scientists could have learned about the world back then? And what impact it would have on us now?
Sometimes it is good to zoom out and see the bigger picture.
