It was a pretty good day all up, though I am pretty well broken form the lack of sleep I got last night after playing in the trades, not realizing the clocks were changing and I would lose an additional hour on top.
We did the traditional Easter Virpoa thing and since my daughter wanted to go as a mouse (of sorts), I painted a little pink nose and some whiskers on her face. It was her suggestion to have one red whicker on each side, which I think worked out pretty well and she looked very cute. We only dropped by three places and we had to "socially distance" but Smallsteps had a really great time of it and was really happy with the presents she got - especially the three, hard-boiled eggs from her grandparents.
Smallsteps is pretty lucky, as he grandparents while being in their mid 70s, love to do things with her, even when they can't be with her themselves. They don't live too far away, so they drop by random gifts and toys, simple things like fresh made bread she can eat, or letters dropped in the mailbox. In the summer when they have been at the cottage, they send her letters every week with a pressed flower and its name, just to say hi. When she visits them normally, they do a thousand things together and play all sorts of educational games.
It is her favorite place to be in the world.
The eggs were for decorating of course and she carefully designed her eggs, choosing the colors she thought would work well together and because there are three, there was one made for each of us. One thing that I always find quite amazing is how generous and thoughtful she is, always making sure that everyone is taken care of in some way and if they aren't she will offer a piece of whatever she has, even if it is her favorite.
For example, the other day I was sitting with her while she had her evening snack before bed and she had some grapes as well, which she loves. There were only a few left in the container and she was a bit disappointed, but I said I will get more the next day for her. I threw the packet into the bin and when I turned back, there was a grape sitting on the table at my place.
"That one is for you Daddy."
She does things like this often and while I always make sure to thank her and giver her a kiss for it, I only take the gift about half the time. I think it is important for her to recognize that her decisions have consequences and at times, people won't refuse her good nature - if she offers something, she has to be prepared to lose it. The thing is, she genuinely means it, she wants me to have it -which is why I also want to refuse it sometimes to, so that she understands that is possible too. These are little things, but we talk a lot together about how people behave and it is going to be awesome in a few years to converse with her.
Speaking of decisions, I have spent the last hour or better part of two, reorganizing my stakes in the CubDefi pools, as a couple of the dens I had stake in shut down and I have had to move them somewhere. My goal is to have some form of passive earnings from past work where tokens I have earned can generate a revenue stream, without having to go out to fiat, as I am not ready to take that step yet.
This took some umming an ahhing over, as I shuffled some stake around into a more risk-seeking profile, with more in the pools and less in the dens. In fact, I pulled out of the CUB den completely for the time being, having all my exposure in pools. As I earn some CUB, I will likely move it back into the den as a holding point that can still attract interest on it. Honestly, I have very little understanding still as to whether this is going to work or not, but if the LEO team do pull it off with what they are building, it might be more than a decent investment, it could also help the greater Hive ecosystem tremendously.
Several birds with one stone in my opinion.
Well, it looks like the weekend has come to another end and I feel like I haven't slept or done anything I was supposed to do on the house at all. This means that I am going to have to do it in the evenings after work instead. It was a good weekend nonetheless and hopefully there will be many more similar to come. It looks like Hive might even be ready for round two - but I have a headache, so will head to bed instead.
