The Lakeside Great Wall of Huairou, Beijing that I visited last time was not only a beautiful place with excellent natural beauty but also has great historical aspects. For me, the most attractive thing from the long history was the Chestnut garden in that area which has been preserved for around more than 800 years according to the oldest tree there. Now the garden is also been used for camping purposes and a great yard for party activities like music shows and entertainment purposes. As a daily visit and the price of the camping ticket I didn't stay there but feel the atmosphere and the festive looks surrounding there perfectly.
The Chestnuts Garden which is also known as the Songshanling Chestnut Garden, is a historic chestnut orchard located inside the Lakeside Great Wall in Huairou, Beijing. This garden is very famous for its longevity, as it has been in existence for over 830 years probably making it one of the oldest chestnut orchards in China. It is located on the slopes of Songshanling, a mountain that is part of the Yanshan Mountain range. The garden is surrounded by lush green forests and overlooks the beautiful water reservoir, creating a serene and picturesque landscape to be there and explore.
Though I have never seen such an old chestnuts garden, the chestnut grown in China are known for their large size, sweet taste, and nutritional value. This garden is home to a massive number of chestnut trees, with some of the trees being more than 800, 600, and 300 years old. These ancient trees have been carefully tended by generations of local farmers, and their fruit is highly sought after by locals and tourists alike. This Chestnuts Garden along with the other gardens in that area has been recognized as a national-level agricultural heritage site, and efforts are being made to preserve and protect this ancient farming history.
The 840 Years old Chestnut tree!
This is the tree that makes me feeling how history can touch you and how you can touch the history that is 840+ years old! I have never seen such an old tree in my life and this was a completely new chapter in life to see so many trees altogether which are bearing history centuries after centuries!
And the fascinating scenario will definitely make you happy to be there.
