To my own surprise, I liked being pregnant. I was afraid that being pregnant would feel like being sick for 9 months, but it wasn't. Once I got over the morning sickness, there were plenty of good things that came along.
Not sure if this has to do with hormones, or simply the daily intake of pre-natal vitamins, but the nail growth during pregnancy is impressive. My nails that are normally thin and fragile, grew to incredible lengths. It was a miracle! Same thing happened with hair. It grew fast, strong, and thick, and who doesn't like that?
As soon as my belly started growing at around 3 months into pregnancy, I purchased a pair of maternity jeans. Oh they were so comfy! I absolutely loved wearing them, and think that there is no reason why everyday pants can't be made with elastic bands.
You know those annoying little bumps that most people have on the back of their arms? Well, those things disappeared completely. My arms were nice and smooth.
For many years I suffered with migraines. They were frequent, bad, and interfered with a lot of day to day activities that I simply could not enjoy due to pain. I was afraid how I was going to handle them during pregnancy, as I would not be able to take any medication. To my surprise, the migraines were all gone. It was such a relief after many years of suffering to finally be pain free.
Bringing new baby into the world also meant that I got to go shopping :) I got to shop for myself and also for baby clothes, toys, furniture, and so on. A new person needs a lot of new stuff, and I took full advantage of that.
Everybody was super nice and excited to learn that I was pregnant. Relatives, co-workers, people I didn't even know congratulated me on the streets and on public transport. I felt special and cared for. People showered me with gifts. I received numerous free product samples in the mail. Presents were coming in from my registry. My co-leagues threw me a baby shower at work. Friends handed me tons of their gently used baby paraphernalia. It basically felt like Christmas the whole time I was pregnant and I loved it:)
