Further to my previous post, apart from having magnificent architecture, Todai-ji Temple also has a wonderful environment. As you can see, there are many people enjoying the atmosphere in the temple.

Another highlight of Todai-ji Temple is the chance to encounter a lot of wild deer that roam freely in the temple. You can enjoy these friendly deer that gather to greet you.

You can experience the charm of these deer closely by purchasing “senbei” (it is rice crackers or vegetable or grass crackers which are especially made for the deer: Yen 200) to feed them or by taking photos with them.

These wild deer love senbei so much that if you hold the senbei in your hands, they will run after you to ask for the senbei. Very amazing!
