Hey everyone! Hope you had a great day!
Not a lot to report that isn't the same as always. Sheep are my life, it's all I do it seems! Not that I mind; the amount of enjoyment they provide makes up for the drudgery.
When turned into the new paddock for feed today, there was a mad rush as always. Sheep have a pecking order like chickens do (except they fight and push to show dominance), so the biggest and strongest sheep tend to get the best access to feed. I try to give the smaller sheep a boost by spreading the hay out over a larger space, so everyone has easy access without pushing. But some of these clever little critters can take matters into their own hooves!
Sheep aren't quite as nimble as goats, but they are agile jumpers with pretty good balance. This little ewe decided she could get a better taste from on top of the bale, and by the looks of those big heavy girls at the bottom, she was probably right.
Here's another exciting sheep picture I took today:
Roasted shoulder of lamb. My house smelled so good all afternoon while this was cooking! I like it best with out adding any extra spices or marinades. It really lets the rich flavour of the lamb take centre stage.
Here's my whole meal tonight. All of it was produced here on my farm!
That's about it for today. I've been getting into writing short stories lately, and posted a new one today. Be sure to check it out here!
Have a really good night, and I hope you'll stop in again tomorrow! Take care.
