The trend hasn't shifted much from my observations as some friends and family members tend to spend more time on their phones than just having purely face to face interactions. It's like an itch to just pick up their phone and do something, anything with it every couple of minutes or when an awkward silence begins to dawn on the atmosphere.
Hopefully, this trend peaks off soon as it's indeed becoming clear the consequences of spending too much time on the device and not the person!
