These days, whenever I hear the word "fear," I am reminded of a recent experience that I feel has had a deep impact on my life. It is an experience in connection with which I have frequently used that "fear" word.

Right at the beginning of this month, the result of a very important exam of mine came out, and I failed. This exam was very important to me and i know it was very important to my parents too. My father wanted and still wants to see me become his support. He believed (as did I) that passing this exam would be equal to the path to success, but i think it was not meant to be for this time, as I failed the exam.

I was terrified of failing this exam. Still, I decided to take it anyway. Even before I had started preparing, I had built it up in my mind as a mountain. This was a mountain of fear that was an obstacle I felt I could never overcome. There were many subjects included in the exam that I believed I could never master. Nevertheless, I managed to come over my fear and worked consistently hard. I thought that since it is human beings who pass this exam and I am one too I would surely pass it one day as well.

I remember that as the exams came near, the fear I had previously set aside seemed to be running back to me in the end my preparation journey.

In fact, on the day of my first exam, and these were twelve exams in total as there are twelve different subjects, I was so overwhelmed with anxiety that I didn't perform well. Still, I remaimed calm composed and completed all twelve exams, even though the nature of the fear varied with each coming exam. When I finally returned back after taking all these exams, it felt as though I had conquered a mountain of fear that I had once believed I would never be able to cross.

The results are out now and, no doubt, I did fail a few subjects, I got a better understanding of my own capabilities and potential. I have learned a big lesson of my life. I have realized I am not as incompetent as I had once believed. There were subjects I was certain I would fail, but contrary to my personal idea, I have scored my highest marks in many of those subjects. Conversely, I didn't perform as well in the areas I had feared most.

I have crossed the mountain of fear

The lesson I鈥檝e learned is that one shouldn't let fear to be dominated in their life and decisions and to hold them back in life. In fact, the things we fear often teach us the most valuable lessons. They prove to be important in helping us to take the next step forward. it is only by overcoming the hurdles of fear that one truly moves ahead and achieves greatness. I have learned that i shouldn't be fearful but i should keep trying in my life.
