Ich überwinde mich heute, mal wieder hier zu schreiben, weil ich gestern eine doch eher verstörende
Erfahrung mit einem Blutplasmaspendeunternehmen 🤡 hatte, über welches ich hier nicht näher sprechen müsste...

Jedenfalls hat mich die Manjaro-Installation schon sehr gestresst, und ich habe mich dann doch ab und zu gefragt, warum ich nicht eine größere Distro verwende. Meine Ausrede da war: Ich will Arch-based, aber grafischen Installer, allerdings ist Manjaro doch auch Gaming-gerichtet (ich hoffe, das ist immer noch so) und ich game doch gar nicht auf meinem Notebook.

Jedenfalls habe ich heute nochmal mit einem Freund diskutiert, der will mich ja schon länger zu Fedora hin überzeugen, weil a) SELinux, b) gute Mischung aus bleeding edge und stable, c) relevant, weil basis von RedHat Enterprise, welches ja auch im professionellen Umfeld häufig eingesetzt wird. Hätte ich mehr Zeit und weniger Hobbies - und wahrscheinlich wäre auch wichtig, dass ich Informatik nicht studiere - würde ich etwas distrohoppen und mir coole Features und Systemtools wie Paketmanager und Init-System zusammenklauben. So bin ich mittlerweile geneigt, Fedora einfach mal eine Chance zu geben. Ach ja, es ist kein Debian/Ubuntu, und zB Qubes setzt ja auch Fedora als StandardVMs ein, außerdem soll der Paketmanager cool sein und ich kenne ihn noch überhaupt nicht, was ihn von den meisten anderen Paketmanagern unterscheidet.

Ich denke, sobald ich etwas Luft habe, werde ich mich um einen Versuch bemühen...

I overcome myself today to write here again, because I had a rather disturbing experience yesterday with a blood plasma donation company 🤡, about which I would not have to talk here in more detail...

Anyway, the Manjaro installation has already stressed me a lot, and I then asked myself from time to time why I do not use a larger distro. My excuse was: I want Arch-based, but graphical installer, but Manjaro is also gaming-oriented (I hope that's still the case) and I don't even game on my notebook.

Anyway, today I discussed again with a friend, who wants to convince me for a long time to Fedora, because a) SELinux, b) good mix of bleeding edge and stable, c) relevant, because base of RedHat Enterprise, which is also often used in the professional environment. If I had more time and less hobbies - and probably it would be important that I don't study computer science - I would distrohop and pick up some cool features and system tools like package manager and init system. So in the meantime I'm inclined to just give Fedora a chance. Oh yeah, it's not Debian/Ubuntu, and e.g. Qubes also uses Fedora as default VMs, plus the package manager is supposed to be cool and I *don't know it at all yet, which makes it different from most other package managers.

I think, as soon as I have some air, I will try to give it a try...
