It took me a while to plan, pack my backpack and travel abroad. Fear and uncertainty were keeping me away from it all. I was 26 years old and I felt like I was sulking a lot and not answering to one of my heart's desire.
Truth be told, I was pretty anxious to step first time in an airplane.
The whole idea of being cramped in a flying machine, up in the air, where the weather was -60C, as the pilot graciously announced, was terrifying for my little mind and I was expecting the worst, hoping for the best.
As the plane started to move, I just took a deep breath, anxiously started chewing my gum and pretended I was on a big bus. Never ever underestimate the power of the placebo, because lo and behold, my anxiety subsided instantly.
As soon I was up in the air, all my fears and anxiety of being in the sky vanished. I was there, above the clouds, basically where our heads are most of the day!
2 years have passed and since then I traveled to 4 countries and I am loving every moment of it.
The ups and downs, the people I met, the memories I have made.
What advice would I give to a first-time traveler that is stuck in his comfort zone, wrapped in his cocoon of fear?
I could elaborate a whole pharagraph packed with smart and witty quotes or I could just keep it short, and in a Shia LeBeauf voice, I would advise you to "Just Do It".
