Happiness is a subject that has been studied throughout history, there are many factors that influence it, but there is no exact formula to achieve it and it does not seem to be a permanent state.

It can perhaps be defined as a state of emotional well-being or satisfaction, which makes us feel fulfilled and makes us think that everything will be fine. However, each person may have his or her own conception of what it means to be happy.

Among the fundamental pillars to achieve happiness is emotional health and, from my point of view, also physical health. Feeling good in body and mind, practicing gratitude and cultivating healthy relationships are key aspects to nurture happiness. Another important pillar is having a purpose in life, as well as clear goals, as they contribute to a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

Now, focusing a little on the task proposed by damarysvibra@damarysvibra, in her publication: Happiness in perspective, although I think that happiness is a decision and that it does not depend on external factors, I have left a lot for later, that after...

When I finished my university career I took a personal growth course in which we made a treasure map, mine showed all the things I wanted to achieve in my life: A good job, a house, a car, a husband and children.

One by one I was achieving my goals, in a short time I had all that, I was even invited to share my experience to other people who were taking that course, a few years later. I felt fulfilled, I had achieved everything I had set out to do.

Less than a year into our marriage, my husband was transferred to a different location at work, supposedly temporarily. 9 years went by, I felt physically exhausted, Monday through Friday I was alone with my two kids and a pretty demanding job, I remember telling myself that this was not what I had dreamed of.

That reminds me of movies about geniuses and their three wishes, which always end in disaster 😅.

Again, in pursuit of happiness, I made the decision to move to a new city, where my husband was, and I really felt relief, because my workload both at home and at work decreased significantly.

Now my happiness, in an abstract sense, depended on getting used to this new city and my new routine.

6 years later, that has not happened. I miss the sea...

There is a phrase that says, if you are not happy with what you have, you will not be happy with what you lack either, and I believe this is very true.

Betting our happiness on our achievements or external conditions is very risky, because we will not always get what we want, then that feeling of integral wellbeing would often be hanging by a thread.

What I have achieved in life fills me with satisfaction, I can't imagine myself without some of it. Although my job no longer satisfies me, I am still grateful for it, I met my husband there, and thanks to that I have my children. Also with my job I was able to buy a house, a car, develop professionally and now I have the illusion of retiring soon, which will allow me to continue receiving salary benefits, without having to fulfill a working day, then I will be able to reinvest myself.

But I have learned that my happiness does not depend on what I hope to do, nor on what I have done, but on what I decide to feel in my day to day life.

Happiness is to see my children laugh, to have food on our table, it is also to see my children reach their goals, to have dreams and to achieve them. Happiness is loving and feeling loved, it is breathing and sleeping well, it is seeing others happy.

I believe that happiness is everything that draws a smile on our face, that makes us feel full and optimistic. This does not mean that we will be laughing all the time, eventually all emotions will invade us, including those we do not like, but the important thing is that they also pass quickly and we continue to feel comfortable with our life and with who we are.

There are always people who wish they had even a little bit of what we have, I feel that, at the very least, I should value and be grateful for every blessing received.
