I received a few pictures of my trip to Kuthua last year. A friend of mine sent me these pictures with whom I had travelled there. This part of the trip is going to be about a dam which is located in Kuthua, one of the districts of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The name of the dam is Ranjit Sagar. It is located in Basholi which is a town in Kuthua. The dam looks pretty beautiful with a few little islands like structures inside it.
This dam was built by the government of Punjab for hydroelectric power project and it stands the biggest project of Punjab generating over 600MW of electricity. The dam is used for irrigation purposes apart from generating power. However, 60% of the dam lies in the territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The government of Jammu and Kashmir raised the issue in 2017 and now they enjoy equal rights over the dam.
These pictures were taken on a bridge that stands over the dam painted blue just like the water. The bridge is a two-way road that leads to the main town of Basholi.
The traffic isn't heavy there and you will find some calm moments there that will relax your mind and soul. You just have to stay there for a while.
I hope you liked the pictures, stay tuned, part 2 of my travel to Kuthua is coming.
