Hello, dear community and fellow readers!
It feels so comforting to return to this space to keep sharing and unpacking our readings. I’ve been meeting late every Sunday with El Proyecto Glow Up book club to delve into Anthony Robbins’ Unlimited Power—a book that has become one of my favorite rituals and part of my "Aura Hour." In case you didn't know, this is a habit I’ve been practicing for the last two weeks during the first sixty minutes of my day. It truly nourishes my soul; even though the hour is late, I find comfort in listening, reading, and participating in our discussions.
There are gatherings where personal stories intertwine with the pages of the book, and that is exactly what happened during our last session. We aimed to cover chapters 3, 4, and 5, but the conversation was so profound that time simply flew by. Today, I’m sharing the continuation of this journey through chapters 6 and 7. For those still thinking about chapter 5, I want to remind you that I wrote about the catharsis it sparked for me in last week’s post.
My main mission with this literary journey is for us to immerse ourselves in the nuances and insights that awaken our deepest wisdom. This book club has been a way to anchor what we’ve learned, but above all, it is an invitation to keep sharing the lessons life offers us through the habits we choose to embody—even when we feel lazy or have mixed emotions.
Chapter 6: The Art of Directing Our Own Brain
This chapter, titled "Mastering Our Mind: How to Direct Our Brain," delivers a powerful wake-up call by reminding us that we are not prisoners of our automatic reactions. Tony Robbins explains in detail how we can take absolute control of our internal representations.
As we delve into these pages, the magic behind NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) sub-modalities becomes crystal clear; it is as if we held the controls to a video player right inside our minds. This lesson offers a liberating revelation: past experiences are not fixed vessels of pain, but rather recordings we can edit. If a memory torments us, we have the power to diminish its impact by dimming its brightness, turning it black and white, moving the image further away, or lowering the volume. Suddenly, we discover we can silence the voice of insecurity, fade the colors of difficult moments, and instead imbue our goals with vivid clarity, brilliance, and sparkle.
It is in our attitudes—in how we choose to position ourselves and face what happens to us—that we forge our own story. Stepping into the role of director of our mental movies is a vital, daily act of empowerment. It is an ongoing practice born of the need to wrap ourselves in self-love, to romanticize every little moment, and to recognize that our internal dialogue and the way we treat ourselves are essential elements in reprogramming what we believe is possible.
The most timely aspect of this lesson is how radically it breaks with traditional approaches that force us to relive traumas over and over again in order to heal. Robbins teaches us that the brain is as efficient as it is obedient: if we do not take deliberate control of the images and sounds we project, our environment—or our old habits—will do it for us. Instead of looking for someone to blame in the past, this chapter calls upon us to find remedies in the present by actively modifying how we choose to remember and perceive our reality.
🎯 Chapter 7: The Syntax of Success
Chapter 7 introduces us to "the syntax of success," a concept backed by compelling logic: having talent or the right tools isn't enough if we don't use them in the proper order. The analogy is as simple as it is delightful: it’s like baking a cake. If you have the best ingredients in the world but put the flour and eggs into the oven before mixing them, the result will be a disaster. The exact same thing happens in our projects and on our personal growth journeys. The order of our thoughts and actions matters, as it directly shapes the version of ourselves we are building for the future.
Reading this struck a personal chord. I immediately thought about how frustrated I get when things don't work out on the first try—something I’m experiencing right now while learning English. In this process, I make mistake after mistake when speaking a foreign language; it is a daily exercise that demands the wisdom and humility to accept correction in order to move forward. Thanks to this lesson, I realized that when something fails, it isn't due to a lack of desire or ability. The secret lies in reviewing the steps: I simply need to adjust my recipe, model the correct sequence, and adopt the strategy used by those who have already reached the goal.
Ultimately, success isn't a mystery reserved for a select few; it is a recipe with clear instructions that we can all learn to follow.
Sharing these reflections here helps me see more clearly how each chapter intertwines with our daily lives. I’d love to open up the conversation in the comments to hear how you all found this reading:
