We want our reward direct and the importance we place on historic outcomes relative to present outcomes.
Todays sociaty is also highly focused on time.
The value of said time and the result of reward we get per time we spent on said subject/task
Harsh fact-; we want now rather than later.
Evolutionary seen, we instinctly seize the reward at hand, and resisting this instinct is hard.
History has actually given humans the strong desire for immediate rewards.
Higher intelligence have a better future-focused tendency. Planning involves the executive brain, the prefrontal cortex; is linked to intelligence. Higher intelligence tend to be better at shifting attention away from the affective properties of rewards.
Can be why individuals with lower intelligence often have financial hardship, and also struggel with their levels of financial asset
Distress causes a behavioral shift toward immediate improvements in mood, and makes us take rash desitions
We all know the utter pain of waiting for something; it seems to go painfully slow when you find something boring, but fly when you are having fun.
How we experience time is and will alwasy be precived diffrently; just as the diffrent food we like, preferences for food items is diffrent among people & so IS preferences for time.
Intresting thow IS- The wish for instant gratification do NOT stop once you get something.!!
A side effect of instant gratification is that it generait hormons that wish for instant gratification.
In other words, once you get some level of instant gratification, you will expect that same instantaneous response in the future
