Recently, I was bound to visit one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal. Pokhara is an exquisite and exotic valley located in the lap of the Himalayas. The shining Himalayas in the north, the lakes all around the town, and beautiful architecture make it a little spark hub in Nepal. These days, I have been stuck in some administrative works and was obliged to make my visit to the town. It’s not possible that I could stay away from some exploration. And, I was destined to hike up to the Peace Stupa.
While staying in Pokhara multiple times, I could always see the Peace Stupa over the top of the hill near the Phewa Lake. But I realized it’s been almost a decade since the first time I have been there. So, why wait anymore longer to make it a second time? And, here’s the beautiful times and moments wrapped up in the blog.
I woke up early morning and decided to go for breakfast. Last night, as I arrived late and got busy with the work, I didn’t have a good meal. So, I decided to take the brunch and move into the exploration. On the way, I stumble upon a beautiful café offering breakfast at a reasonable price. And, I made the order. With the surprise, it came out better than I expected. Freshly brewed coffee with hashed potatoes, toasted bread, and fruits; an appetizing diet was a joy to my belly.
Then soon after, I took the local bus and moved to the destination. The Peace Stupa is located at the top of the hill and would take almost an hour hike from the nearby bus station. Taxi and Bus are available but as a solo traveler, I decided to take the hike.
The hike paths are made up of stone and go through the village. You get to see some eagles flying high, peepal trees, and beautiful landscapes as you make your way to the top. One can of juice in the hand, and refreshing with the fresh air was truly a rejoice.
As you come closer to the Stupa, the Himalayas on the north look bigger and better. Sadly, clouds hovered around as I made it into the location, and the opportunity to captures the Himalayas went in vain. Then, the beautiful Peace Stupa gave me the call to capture its architecture.
Peace Stupa located in Pokhara is one among the eighty-peace stupa in the world. The stupa was built around the late ’90s and is a site of pilgrimage and serenity. The Himalayas, landscapes, and chants nearby make it a wholesome lively place. There is no entrance fee but visitors are requested to donate as much they prefer to enter the stupa. The different Buddhism-inspired patterns and architecture embrace the feel of purity. While the cold breeze is enough to sweep away your sweats from the hike.
Upon first glance, you would notice Buddha Stupa in a fine yellow textured color with beautiful typography. Visitors are requested to put their shoes out to make it up to the main Stupa. The Golden gajur on the top remarks the essence of grace and wisdom.
I stayed there for a while and pondered upon the Himalayas, the environment, and the different architecture around. Pokhara city looks like a giant town in between the hills. The urbanization and the rapid flow of housing look to roll down the beauty of nature. However, it's a life that goes out in the whole world.
But when I moved down back to the base, I noticed a beautiful village above the hill. The homes with traditional architecture blend so well with terrace farming and steep hills.
I hiked back to my room.
And, my day ended with a serene lake view from my room. Phewa lake is one of the busiest lakes in Nepal; receiving thousands of visitors every month for refreshment and fun. This time I didn’t make up to the spot but stayed in my room balcony and gazed around the lake. The nearby playground was filled with people taking sunbathe, playing volleyball, and strolling nearby the lake. It looked like a refreshment spot during the winter times. Pokhara is also known for adventurous sports and you could see the paragliders hovering in the sky. It all gets exquisite upon a glance at the surroundings.
It was a beautiful time around the city. In the limited space, Pokhara has so much to offer. And, it was a lively experience to go through the exploration.
