Hustle, I believe word is very contextual, and has diversed meaning under different conditions. This community being contained to entrepreneurship, and business hustle, I would like to jump in and share one of my hustle stories.
Now, my story is quite plain, and not much, but taking risk and giving all you can is quite a hustle itself, I believe. My hustle story is very small, but there were conditions that won't have worked, but hustle was the way to reach there.
Conducting First-Ever Digital Marketing Workshop in my District.
I am a business student. I also have a lot of interest in evolving technology. Here, in my business-school, we never got the opportunity to go near to the digital business work-structure. That's what was missing in my home-town. Also, the tech-students were also not able to involve with business-professionals. So, I wanted to create an opportunity for all these business students and tech-students to interlink and work for better outcomes.
I decided I will make this workshop happen in any circumstances. This was my first event experience and was one of the first-ever Digital Marketing workshop in my district.
How did I start?
I went to interact with the experts in digital marketing and involved them in my plan. After setting up the idea with the experts of digital marketing, I needed sponsors. So, for that, I tried email-marketing. I listed out possible sponsors (almost 100), collected their email, and send them proposals. None of them responded. It was just a mini-event for students to interact and learn. But as I was doing alone, and I am a bit shy-guy to ask money from someone, It was challenging for me to interact with possible sponsors. However, I went beyond the odds and interacted with them in person with those sponsors. I went to get two sponsors eventually. I decided for a venue as well, paying all the sponsor amount, as I wanted to make it happen. I become a bit more excited and jumped into selfless giving for all it takes to make things work.
I went to do social media marketing for the event. It really turned out well, I received almost thirty interested candidates, but only 10 turned out for the event. It was great for me though. Finally, Digital Marketing workshop happened. Later, I reached the participants and they were really glad that something like this happened in their hometown.
The Learning-Curve
There were many mistakes that I did here. I clearly went out seeing the event as a goal that I needed to complete in certain time constraints. This became one of the great mistakes. However, I would like to segregate them in different points.
1. See the Unseen
I completely failed to understand the patterns of this whole idea. Yes, I went to involve the basics of event management, as like sponsors, speakers, logistics, venue, marketing, and more. But, I realized there goes strong hustle in all these patterns formations. The intuition, conflict, motivation, and all the intrinsic business patterns always creates hurdle in your business journey. And, also not being perspective to a certain idea- patterns can bring the true application of your actions. This is where we have to see the unseen, that exists in any form around us. We just need to extract it with the idea, and perseverance.
2.Design-Thinking
I started redesigning my thinking process, and it all my mistakes started clearing out. Besides understanding the patterns, it was important for me to look into my own perspective towards the idea. And, how choosing an event, bringing in the candidates, linking up with stakeholders, my own idea of implementation could have been expanded and made better.
3.Defining the outcome
My great mistake was, not to decide the specific outcome for making the session as interactive as possible. These things went quite good, later I realized it could have been better. The first thing I could have done is by narrowing the learning outcome, making it specific. Things quite went well from the speaker, but I realized if I had gone to break-down outcomes to a possible extent, it could have been better.
