Helia is my best friend in school. She is a studious and distinguished student in our class. It is true that, in every classroom in the world, there are a few honored students, but the distinctive feature about Helia is that she is blind. Even though she cannot see, she is a student in a distinguished school in our city. She is the only blind student who has been admitted into our school.
Helia’s books are written in Braille, the special writing system for visually impaired people. I have somewhat learned the Braille script, because I wanted to help Helia with her studies. For some courses, like the Social Studies, she uses CD-ROMs. During exams, the teachers usually read the questions to her and write her oral answers on the paper.
Helia and I review our lessons during the break times. Sometimes, we go to adventure places together. This is a photo from when we went to the park together.
I wish all the best for my dear friend Helia, my kind and good-hearted friend, who has not ever harmed anyone in her life, and I wish her success in all her endeavors.
