This is not the first time I have seen it, but it is the first time I have given it some thought. A large sign board with the sentence, dress the way you want to be addressed is the first thing you will set your eyes on when you walk into the school. I resumed yesterday and as I pulled my trolley along the concrete floor that was the first thing I looked at.
Dress the way you want to be addressed
It's a pretty simple and understandable, maybe even profound. I thought, "what does the way I dress have to do with the way I ought to be addressed?" then a counter thought came in, "it didn't say" ought - to", it says "want" ". Truth is, people will always judge you from your appearance, it is up to you to decide if that matters to you or not.
Some of us say, I don't care what people think about the way I dress, all that matters to me is that I am doing what I want. First there's nothing as "not caring what others think of you". It's something people say mostly to feel better themselves or to feel nonchalant, but in reality, human beings do care about what others think of them, just that people care about only what they want from others, but they still do care.
Dress the way you want to be addressed, it has a strong impact on how others perceive you. The way we dress also generally represent our personality so from that, judgement made on people to a certain extent based on their appearance can be pretty accurate. The way we dress can be a strong indication of our personality, beliefs and culture. If you feel like people are judging you a certain way based on how you dress, and you are worried about it, you might want to do some modifications to your mode of dressing. If you feel like the way you dress represent just the way you feel which doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on what you are in the inside, know that what you feel is also part of you, so when people judge you based on that, you shouldn't be so offended.
Some people, especially women, dress in provocative ways for whatever reasons they have and sometimes attract negative and unwanted attention to themselves. Do you think that they should modify the way they dress to avoid those type of attention, that's if they are not comfortable with it, or should people who give those type of attention mind their own business?
Thanks for reading.
